Dr Peter Gibbon

Dr Peter Gibbon is a warm and engaging therapist who works collaboratively with clients to achieve positive mental health. An empathic and engaged listener, Peter provides individual and family therapy to adults and adolescents aged 12 and over. His therapeutic approach is solution focused, evidence-based and supported by extensive clinical experience.

Working from a positive psychology perspective, Peter’s therapeutic approach creates a close, collaborative therapeutic relationship with each client that assists individuals and families towards more fulfilling, rewarding and satisfying lives. Peter draws on the unique resources and strengths of each client or family to formulate, implement and maintain solutions to the challenges they face.

Peter has been a Registered Psychologist for over twenty years and formerly held the position of Senior Psychologist at the Royal Brisbane & Women’s Hospital. In addition to clinical work he has conducted mental health research in hospitals and universities and has published papers on a number of issues including anxiety, panic disorder, eating disorders and post traumatic stress disorder following natural disasters.

Whether it is coping with difficult situations or striving for changes in thinking, emotions, or behaviours, Peter can assist by being an engaged and understanding listener and by providing therapeutic interventions tailored to your specific needs.
